SUMMARY:MPD/DPR - Late Night Hype x Beat The Streets
DESCRIPTION:For several years\, Beat the Streets – one of MPD’s premier summer outreach events – has served as a traveling community festival where community members of all ages enjoy performances from bands and artists\, while local social service agencies and community vendors share information and goods. With MPD’s very own Side by Side Band performing\, it shows a different side of policing\, that incorporates dancing\, food and fun into the mix. \nStarted in 2022\, DPR’s Late Night Hype is a nighttime carnival-style event featuring bounce houses\, music\, food\, video games\, and more. These events are hosted at recreation centers across the city – often with pool hours extended to accommodate attendees. Events are held every Friday\, throughout the summer. \nThis summer\, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) are joining efforts to elevate each of these summer event programs.
